In my mission statement, I clearly stated that I want to achieve a leadership position in my future career. However, such a feat is not achievable if I do not have the right qualities to be a good leader who leads his team to accomplish amazing works.
My desire to become a leader is justified by my experiences in high school. The teachers in my school had recognized me as a leader and nominated me to attend a leadership conference called NASCLC with a few others. I had the chance to go to Singapore and attend the leadership conference there. During the conference, we heard from renown leaders from other parts of the world who taught us about what a good leader was supposed to look like. Through this leadership conference, I was able to gain the confidence and desire to become a leader in the future.
From this conference, I was able to foster new leadership qualities in me, that I still pertain to this day. Most importantly, I learned to be a selfless leader. I learned that instead of being a forceful leader who just assigned massive amount of work to the workers, I should be someone who works together with the team and hears out all the opinions of the workers. I learned the importance of cooperation when working as a team. I also learned that I should not blame all the errors and mistakes on the team, but try to fix them together and make a better product instead of bashing my team.
